GOD
Part One
Some people say that it is not necessary to
know God. It is a great thing to know that God came down. But you know, to know
God and the Word [the Lord with Form] it is not an easy thing. And once you
come to know God closer and closer you find you are unable to act on your own
self. When you try to act on your own self we find that we become mighty
ourselves. But to allow God to work in our lives, we have to become nothing.
You know, sometimes people will say, “Lord,
make me nothing”.
Actually God must make us something. We are
nothing. There is nothing in man to glorify him, because man is a bundle of
nerves. Man is full of sin and sickness and sorrow. And what is there to give
to God in our lives? Only stinking nature. But when we come to God, He makes
this stinking nature to blossom and bear fruit.
God means object of worship.
God is the creator of the Universe. Each
and every plant, insects, mountains, animals, all human beings, air, water,
fire, heaven, earth, all the planets were created by Him. He is only worthy to
be worshipped. He is the one who created everything in the beginning, sustains
His creation and destroys them which proved to be unworthy, at the end.
·
There
are totally 84,00,000 living beings in this world created by God.
·
That
which is born from the egg- 21,00,000. [birds etc.,]
·
That
which is born from the earth- 21,00,000. [plants, trees etc.,]
·
That
which is born from the womb- 21,00,000. [animals, human beings etc.,]
·
That
which is born from the sweat- 21,00,000.
- [GARUDA PURANA]
Even though human beings are the best of
all these 84,00,000 living beings, man is falling in to sin because of the five
organs and the five senses and at last faces death due to the sins which he
does because he is bound with his five senses.
The animals and the other living beings
face death only because of only one of these five senses mentioned above. But
man is the only living being who faces death because of all these five senses. What a pity?
For example:
The Bee when it senses the sweet smell of
the flower it goes in to it and stays in the flower enjoying its smell, and
when the evening comes the flower closes and the வண்டு gets caught in it and at
last dies of suffocation.
This dies because of the sense of smell.
v There is a bird called ‘Agana’ [அகன பட்சி] which dies immediately when it hears a loud noise [high
decibel sounds]. Hence it has become a rare bird which can be seen only in deep
forests. This bird dies of the hearing sense.
v The elephants when they mate-the female elephant will be forcibly sent
between two trees [close to each other] by the male elephant, [for support].
But after mating if the male elephant does not pull the female elephant out of
the trees, the elephant dies because of hunger and thirst, or the lions etc., The elephant dies
because of sexual feelings.
v The light insects [விட்டில் பூச்சி] which come near the
flame attracted by its brightness dies falling in to it. This light insect
dies because of sense of seeing.
v When the
fisherman puts the bait into the water to catch a fish, he puts the worm which
the fish likes in the bait. And when the fish comes to eat the worm it gets
caught in the bait and at last dies. The fish dies because of the
sense of taste.
So except man all the other living beings
die only because of anyone of these five senses. But man is the only living
being who dies being attracted by all these five senses. A man who lust for all
the things of these five senses, slowly becomes selfish as he wants to keep and
enjoy them himself, which slowly leads him to sins, which in turn takes him to
the last enemy - DEATH. Gita says in chapter 2 slokas-62, 63 that,
“The man dwelling on sense-objects develops
attachment for them; from attachment springs up desire, and from desire
(unfulfilled) ensues anger. From anger arises infatuation; from infatuation,
confusion of memory; from confusion of memory, loss of reason; and from loss of
reason one goes to complete ruin”.
Even though man wants to get rid of these
Karmas, he don’t know the way thereof. Where
will the Hindus go for washing their sins? They go to Sabarimalai, here and
there, or go to Ganges and say, “Our sins are washed away.” Man wants to go
here and there and find out some satisfaction for his soul. He goes to some
‘theertha yatra’ [pilgrimage], dips in the Ganges and comes away and says: ‘My
sins are gone away.’ If Ganga waters can take your sins away, there is no
need of worshipping God. Sometimes some people
swallow a big rock and then try to heal it by ginger water. And everywhere they
go, they talk like a Godly person…..Why? He doesn’t read the Vedas and
scriptures which tells the way to get rid of his sins. Let us read some verses
from the Bhagawad Gita, Bible, and Quran.
“Even if the vilest sinner worships Me with
exclusive devotion, he should be accounted a saint; for he has rightly
resolved. (He is positive in his belief that there is nothing like devoted
worship of God). Speedily he becomes virtuous and secures lasting peace. Know
it for certain, Arjuna, that My devotee never falls”. (Gita 9: 30,31)
Mark_2:9, 10 “
Whether is it easier to say to the sick of the palsy, Thy sins be forgiven
thee; or to say, Arise, and take up thy bed, and walk? But that ye may know
that the Son of man hath power on earth to forgive sins”…(The Bible)
Say: "If ye do love Allah, Follow me:
Allah will love you and forgive you your sins: For Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most
Merciful." Holy Quran3. 31.
So we could understand that God alone could
forgive our sins and redeem us from this sinful world thereby saving us from
the ties of Death. But never in the history, man seek God voluntarily by himself. It is God
who always comes in search of man. When a man searches God he creates 100’s and
1000’s of Gods. BUT WHEN GOD COMES IN SEARCH OF MAN HE IS ONE. People think God is somebody far away. They think that God could
not be reached or known by a common man.
